On True Love… Think About It
We always seek for the one true love. No, not the perfect guy, just THE RIGHT guy. But as everything else in life, it is not that easy!
We go through a lot of phases; trials and errors; hypotheses and assumptions. We test the merchandise and the merchandise tests us. As we go through each of these hurdles, we accumulate new formulas and equations to seemingly hone and refine the choices we make and with this we constantly re-define our standards.
Not so easy for the next guy who comes along, hoping to seek our affection.
Let’s face it – We change; we withdraw and we become wary every time we get hurt by somebody. We have our “i-will-not-allow-anyone-such-liberties-on-me-again” frame of mind (though this is constantly proven to be more of a fallacy when one is in the situation!) We put up wall after wall of defenses whenever we get disappointed, hurt or when a lover fails us.
If we look at it, this does not bode well for the next candidate in line to win our hearts.
He would have to overcome these barriers. He has to leap higher than the person who came and went before him; he has to run faster and give more -all superlatives involved. Bottom line, he has to clean up the mess other people left and paying for the excess baggage to boot.
Almost unfair, isn’t it?
But really, if we think about it…
When this person does not only get past these hurdles but destroys all walls and erases all these formulas — he becomes our great love.
I know it’s a cruel way to paint finding “destiny” — but it makes sense to me.
What do you think? I wrote this last October 27, 2008!!!
I think that thought has its merits but the last line “he becomes our great love” — well, i don’t know just yet.
